SERVING ALL OF ALBERTA BY VIDEO
“When we try to teach our children how to ‘fit in’ to society, we inadvertently send the message that conformity has a higher value than authenticity. In effect, priming them for a life of mediocrity and unhappiness, as nobody ever feels like they ‘fit in’ when they are not being their authentic selves.” J. Milburn
It all begins with one step. Fischer Humanistics Inc. is here to provide you with the support and counselling you need to start living the life you desire.
About Leah
Hi! I’m Leah Fischer, a Registered Provisional Psychologist located in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, and serving ALL of Alberta by video. For the last 25 years, I have dedicated my time to helping individuals and families navigate difficult circumstances and issues to uncover their best life. I want to continue to offer my time to you for coaching, consultation, psychoeducation or psychotherapy.

I completed my advanced Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology in 1994 from the University of Regina. I spent 8 years facilitating rehabilitation with young offenders in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Following that, I began an 18-year career in a non-profit agency providing early intervention to young families. I supported prenatal and postnatal care of mothers as well as families with children 0-6. I facilitated parental knowledge attainment in attachment, child development, healthy families and eventually became the lead for our home-visitation team.
In 2016 I began my Masters in Counselling Psychology. I focused my master’s research on pre and post-natal anxiety and depression. Today I remain passionate about women’s issues and would like to also provide support to women for miscarriages and infant loss. I am excited and honored to serve all who want to focus on mental wellness .
I practice and approach treatment with a holistic, integrative, metatheoretical lens that blends psychodynamic, person-centered, and existential perspectives with a personal belief in options based on eastern philosophy. This keeps in mind that all parts of a person (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual) all work together and there is not a perfect solution that applies to everyone. I utilize evidence-based modalities combined with intuitive and energy-focused approaches that fit best. The modalities I utilize are trauma and polyvagal-informed, and include attachment and solution-focused, narrative, as well as a cognitive-behavioral approach. Acknowledging the uniqueness of each person, we will work to find out your needs and goals, isolate the issue and determine with you the best path towards discovering the authentic self in your most enlightened life.
